SRT-10 Dodge Viper The fastest sports car

SRT-10 Dodge Viper The fastest sports car

SRT-10 Dodge Viper Powered by a 8.3 Litre V10 which is essentially a Dodge truck V8 with two extra cylinders grafted on, the Viper has incredible straight line performance. Handling and build quality of the Viper is however less refined and reassuring compared to its European rivals.Dodge Viper began in 1996.

The Dodge Viper - The viper idea all started in 1988 with just a clay model. Soon after the car was was constructed and displayed at put on display auto shows. The Chrysler Corporation did not expect the Viper to be such a big hit. The viper certainly got a lot of people interested, and in 1992 The first Viper RT/10 Roadster was produced. It initially came in only two color choices, black and the more common red. In 1996 The Dodge Viper GTS was introduced. The GTS was a hard top instead of the soft top RT/10.
SRT-10 Dodge Viper The fastest sports car

In the late 1980's and early 90's Chrysler was running out of money, and fast, and that is part of the reason for the Viper, they needed a 'halo car' car that could help them with their money problems and it worked.
In 1994 a television series starring the Dodge Viper was aired on NBC it was called of course, Viper. The show took place in a futuristic city and the Viper was a type of police car. It starts out like an ordinary Viper and with the push of a button it turned into the Defender, the ultimate crime fighting machine. Chrysler created the show to help there sales with the viper.
In 2003 the Dodge Viper was changed dramatically, in both appearance and performance. The Dodge Viper was the fastest sports car for under 100 thousand, until the Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 came along. Dodge plans to counter the Corvette with a new, faster and nicer Viper in 2008. Let's hope. The Viper is a true American sports car.

Modifications on Lamborghini

Modifications on Lamborghini

carbon fiber lambo
Enough of Bugatti Veyron editions? This time, it’s a Lambo in the news. British tuner Prindiville Prestige is offering the most expensive, special edition Lamborghini since the launch of the €1 million Reventon. Prindiville is renowned for creating one-off, custom-made cars and this completely restyled Murcielago LP-640 is one great example. The roadster has been redesigned from the ground up and the interior modifications alone were done for €330,000. These modifications include saddle-tanned leather, hand-finished aluminum accents and specially engineered aluminum air vents. The car has been upholstered in buffalo foreskins. Carbon fiber work is all the rage these days, so they did the whole outer bodywork in carbon fiber, excluding the front compartment lid. Valances, sills and louvers have been used for a shark-like appearance. Other notable upgrades include a titanium sports exhaust system, handleless doors with remote electric opening, miniature cameras in the door mirrors and a restyled engine bay cover.

The total cost for the bespoke special edition carbon fiber Lamborghini goes over $1 million. The Lamborghini Murciélago by Prindiville is daringly designed, stylishly aggressive and one of a kind.

Use of Lamborghini in Games

Lamborghini In Games

Because of the reputation of the Lamborghini as a fierce fighter on the road, it has been able to attract the attention of game designers, directors etc. Many games of the Need for Speed series like NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Need for Speed: Carbon & Need for Speed: ProStreet have used a lot of Lamborghini cars in their games. The cars themselves look pretty good in the game and in real life and with mind blowing looks added with superb performance it's not hard to believe that these are classified as some of the best sports cars in the world. These cars have gained much popularity in the hit game series. And Lamborghini is one of the few cars that also many girls seem to be interested in. Believe me, talking about cars with girls could be regarded as one of the most stupid things to do in the world. They don't care what your'e talking about and your'e just yappi'n away. But the word Lamborghini seems to arouse some interest in them.

"With 571 horsepower put to the pavement through a permanent 4WD system, the Lamborghini Murciélago is capable of 205 miles per hour."
"The Lamborghini Murciélago has a top speed of over 200 miles an hour. Under the hood is a longitudinally mid-mounted, twin double overhead cam, 48 valve, 60 degree V12 turning out 571 horsepower at 7500 rpms."
"Welcome to the Lamborghini Murciélago. With a carbon fibre and steel alloy body, the Murciélago tips the scales at just over 3600 pounds. The Murciélago has the most powerful Lamborghini road engine to date."

Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Kamikaze's Murcielago from NFS:MW
After being left out of Need for Speed: Underground and Need for Speed: Underground 2 the Murciélago returns in Need for Speed: Most Wanted. It is unlocked after beating Blacklist member JV and originally comes in black.

Lamborghini Murciélago

Lamborghini Murciélago

The Lamborghini Murciélago is a high performance sports car produced by Italian automaker Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and designed by Luc Donckerwolke. It was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo. The Murciélago is a two-door, two-seat coupé. To celebrate the company's 40 years in operation, 50 special edition Murciélagos were built during the autumn of 2003. An open-top version called the Murciélago Roadster was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The roadster features similar performance to the coupé with a more aggressive rear flank, as well as a considerably higher price tag.
The Murciélago sports a 6.2-litre version of the Lamborghini V12 engine, a six-speed manual or 6-speed sequential automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. It also has a rear spoiler that can be raised to an angle of 70 degrees, side mirrors that fold in to improve aerodynamics, and side scoops that automatically open to the needed size to let in just the right amount of air needed to cool its engine. The 2008 car's estimated fuel economy for the 6-speed manual is 8 miles per US gallon (29 L/100 km; 9.6 mpg-imp) city and 13 miles per US gallon (18 L/100 km; 16 mpg-imp) freeway, making it the least efficient 2008 car for city and highway driving, according to the EPA.
The coupé's base price is US $313,000, which is US $107,000 more than its smaller sibling, the Lamborghini Gallardo.
In 2006 the Murciélago's engine was replaced by a stronger 6.5-liter engine and the car's name was changed to Murciélago LP640. For the 2007 model year Lamborghini did the same with the roadster model, which is now called Murciélago LP640 Roadster. Both versions received a minor facelift.

The name

The name Murciélago (pronounced moor-thee-EH-la-go in traditional Castilian Spanish and moor-see-EH-la-goh in Spanish of Latin America) means "bat" in Spanish. A bull by this name survived 24 sword strokes in an 1879 fight at the arena of Córdoba, and fought with such passion and spirit that the matador chose to spare its life, a rare honor. In another Lamborghini tie-in, the bull was later presented as a gift to Don Antonio Miura, who was a noted breeder and whose bull ranch the Lamborghini Miura was named after, and went on to sire a line of famous fighting bulls.

40th Anniversary Edition

Lamborghini Murciélago 40th Anniversary Edition
In late 2003, Lamborghini announced a special 40th Anniversary Edition of the Murciélago, following in the footsteps of their Countach and Diablo Anniversary Editions. The limited production run of 50 vehicles featured enhancements including a limited-edition body color, carbon-fiber exterior detailing, upgraded wheels , a new revamped exhaust system, and a 40th Anniversary numbered plaque displayed along the side. The interior featured a new leather trim and additional electronic features.

LP640

The LP640 version was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2006, as a facelift for the coupé version. It features a 6.5 Litre engine, now producing 640 PS (631 hp/471 kW), improving performance substantially. Like the base Murciélago, the engine is mounted "backwards", with the transmission in front of the engine and the differential behind it, instead of a transaxle normally seen on mid-engine cars. There were also a few minor external changes, primarily to the low air intakes.

The front and rear bumpers have been reshaped to channel air more efficiently, and the new exhaust has been shaped into the rear diffuser to minimize aerodynamic lift. The air intake on the left side has been enlarged to accommodate the feeding of the oil cooler. The car's body is made up of steel and carbon fibre, while underneath a revised suspension has been added to keep up with the car's performance. It also has an all-wheel-drive system that normally distributes 70% of the torque to the rear wheels, but can allocate up to 100% to the rear, or up to 70% to the front, depending on where the available grip is. There are also new 18-inch (460 mm) Hermera alloy wheels running huge 335/30 tyres at the rear. The LP640 retains the original car's scissor-opening doors. The LP640 coupè U.S. MSRP rests at $318,800.
Inside the LP640, the seating has been reshaped to accommodate greater headroom, while an upgraded instrument panel is flanked by an improved stereo system.
The LP640's optional equipment includes Carbon fibre-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite brakes for swifter braking, chrome paddle shifters and a glass engine cover which shows off the LP640's engine.
A special edition version of the Murciélago LP640 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show. The Versace edition features a customized all-white exterior and a matching white interior. However, a one-of-a-kind black LP640 Versace and LP640 Roadster Versace were also presented by the factory.
Lamborghini announced the LP640 Roadster version at the 2006 LA Auto Show.

Engine

LP stands for Longitudinale Posteriore, referring to the longitudinally-mounted, 6.5L V12 engine, capable of producing up to 640 PS (631 hp/471 kW) @ 8000rpm. Along with a new six-speed manual transmission, which can come in Lamborghini's optional paddle shift "E-gear" package, the LP640 can reach a top speed of 219+ mph. The LP640 is accommodated by an electronic Launch control device called "Thrust."

LP640 Roadster

The new Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Roadster was presented on the 2006 Los Angeles Autoshow. It features the same engine as the LP640 coupé and replaces the 6.2 Litre Murciélago Roadster. The only design changes were oil cooling vents behind the air intakes, interior changes, and a reinforced body.

LP640 Versace

LP640 Versace Edition at Toronto Autoshow 2008, with the white-black trim in the door
Presented at the 2008 Paris International Autoshow, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Versace is a special edition version of the Lamborghini LP640 Coupé, with all the same performance features. The only difference is the two tone white-black trim, shown on both the exterior and interior of the car. However, Lamborghini de Spa have also built 1 black LP640 & LP640 Roadster. It also features custom Versace leather seating and a Gianni Versace logo plaque inside the vehicle. The Versace material costs $10,000 per seat. Lamborghini have also announced that they will only produce 20 units of this model.

LP 650-4 Roadster

It is a limited production (50 units) model. Engine is rated 650 PS (641 hp/478 kW) at and 660 N·m (487 lb·ft) torque. Exterior changes include Grigio Telesto exterior that combines grey bodywork with a special bright orange Arancio LP 650-4 featured on the front spoiler and sills, orange brake calipers and a transparent V12-engine cover. Interior changes include black Alcantara Nera on the driver's side (including door panel and central tunnel), and black leather Nero Perseus on the passenger's side.

LP 670-4 SuperVeloce

A Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 Superveloce in Irvine, CA
The Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is the latest and most extreme variant of the Murcielago models. Engine power was increased to 670 PS (661 hp/493 kW) at 8000 rpm and 660 N·m (487 lb·ft) at 6500 rpm torque through engine airflow enhancements and improved valve timing.
The vehicle is 100 kilograms (220 lb) lighter than predecessor via new super high-strength sectional steel on chassis (-20 kg (44 lb)); carbon fiber based front fenders, rear side panels/fenders and the casing for the third brake light, removing drive for moveable spoiler (-13 kg (29 lb)); carbon fiber door panels, cockpit, roof lining, Alcantara upholstered seat (leather seat available as option), omission of the radio-navigation system (available as option) (-34 kg (75 lb)); lighter single disc clutch, lighter exhaust system (-26 kg (57 lb)); ceramic disc with carbon ceramic brakes, "Ares" alloy-forged wheels (-7 kg (15 lb)). The car now has a dry weight of 3,450 lb (1,560 kg).
The e.gear transmission became standard, which includes "Corsa" and a "Low adherence" modes; while 6-speed manual transmission became a no-cost option.
Handling is improved via stiffened chassis, enlarged front spoiler and the twin rear diffuser, the new fixed rear spoiler. Buyer can choose between small rear spoiler or the optional larger Aeropack Wing (a large, fixed, carbon-fiber wing mounted on two carbon-fiber brackets) for improved downforce. Suspension is the same as the LP640.
Lamborghini estimated 0-100 km/h acceleration of 3.2 seconds, with top speed of 342 kilometres per hour (213 mph) (337 km/h (209 mph) with Aeropack Wing).
The car was unveiled in 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

Motorsport

Reiter Engineering's Murciélago R-GT, campaigned under the InterProgress Bank Spartak Racing name
The Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT is a race-only version of the Murciélago, developed jointly with Reiter Engineering and Audi Sport. It has rear-wheel drive unlike the standard Murciélago to comply with the FIA, ACO, and JAF rules. The car retains the standard Murciélago V12, but has air restrictors to manage power. Its acceleration and top speed are highly dependent on the gearing selected for a particular race track.
In March 2006 at the Super GT Suzuka 500 km, a Murcielago R-GT specifically built for Super GT (and rebadged RG-1) for the Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club (JLOC) recorded the first win ever for a Murcielago when they earned a win in the GT300 class. In March 2007 in the FIA GT Championship, the All-Inkl.com Racing Murciélago won the Zhuhai 2 Hours.
In December 2006, Reiter Engineering tested an upgraded Murcielago R-GT LM, featuring redesigned body work and a new rear wing with less drag.
In April 2009, in LMS 1000 km de Catalunya race, a Murcielago R-GT of the russian IPB Spartak Racing Team has won the GT1 class, against Corvette C6-R and Saleen S7-R. The drivers of the IPB Spartak Racing car were the russian Roman Rusinov and the dutch Peter Kox. They crossed the finish line 2 laps ahead of the first Corvette, in 2nd place. Before of the race, Lamborghini has set the pole, but has been moved at the end of the grid due to some technical irregularities. The second, international win for the Ragin Bull GT car. In 2009 LMS, IPB Spartak Racing is in the firts place of the GT1 class.

Lamborghini Miura Concept

Lamborghini Miura Concept
A Lamborghini Miura concept car was presented at the Museum of Television & Radio on January 5, 2006 alongside the Los Angeles Auto Show, though it was not present at the show itself. Instead, the Miura officially debuted at the North American International Auto Show two weeks later. It was the first design by new Lamborghini chief, Walter de'Silva, and commemorates the 1966 introduction of the original Miura in Geneva.
Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann has denied the concept will return the Miura to production, saying “The Miura was a celebration of our history, but Lamborghini is about the future. Retro design is not what we are here for. So we won’t do the Miura.”

Lamborghini Gallardo

Lamborghini Gallardo

The Lamborghini Gallardo is a sports car built by Lamborghini. The Gallardo is Lamborghini's most-produced model to date, with over 5000 on first three years of production . Each car costs about $180,000 to $210,000. The car is named after a famous breed of fighting bull. The Spanish word gallardo translates into "gallant," and from Italian into "striking".
gAYtransmission|'semi-automatic single-clutch sequential manual']], which Lamborghini abbreviates to "E-gear". The "E-gear" allows the driver to make shifts much faster than a manual transmission would. The driver shifts up and down via paddles behind the steering wheel, and does not and cannot manually actuate the clutch.
For the MY2006 (launched in late 2005) Lamborghini introduced many changes to the car to counter some criticisms garnered by the press and owners. These were derived from the limited edition Gallardo SE. The exhaust system was changed to a more sporty one (including a flap to make it quieter around town), the suspsension was revised and a new steering rack was fitted, the engine power was increased by 20bhp to a maximum of 520bhp, the biggest change was an overall lowering of the gearing especially in 1st to 5th. The result was a much improved car, it handled and turned in better, sounded better under full throttle and the extra power and lower gearing turned an already fast car into a seriously quick one.
The Audi R8 sports car, launched in early 2007, is based on the Gallardo platform, and uses a 4.2 litre V8 in place of the Gallardo's V10 to avoid competing directly with the Gallardo.
For the 2008 model year, an onboard computer, iPod connectivity with USB, heated mirrors, Q-citura stitching that originally could only be found on the Nera model, and a beige soft-top on the Spyder, were added to the Gallardo.

Variants

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

Gallardo Spyder

The production spyder model of the Gallardo was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 2006. It is considered by the company to be an entirely new model, with 512 bhp (381.8 kW) and a lower-ratio six-speed manual transmission. The soft top is fully retractable.
Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer was the first person in North America to take delivery of the Gallardo Spyder.
Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson announced on 18 February 2007 that he had bought a Gallardo Spyder, replacing his Ford GT.

SE

2006 Verde Ithaca Gallardo SE on Angeles Crest Hwy in Los Angeles.
In late 2005, the Gallardo SE (Special Edition) was introduced. The SE is distinguished from the regular Gallardo externally by having a black-roofed two-tone color scheme as well as specially-designed "Callisto" rims shod with Pirelli tires. Note that the Gallardo SE could only be ordered in a very small selection of exterior colors: two grey shades as well as white (Balloon white), yellow (Giallo Midas), Orange (Arancio Borealis) and green (Verde Ithaca)

2006 Verde Ithaca Gallardo SE Interior.
The Gallardo SE comes with a two-tone interior. All piping and stitching on the ultra-quality leather are executed in the same color as the bodywork of the car. The mid sections of the seats are finished in color-coded upholstery and even the black floormats have a color coded borders.
A rear-view camera is also standard issue on the Gallardo SE, as is a multimedia system and a navigation system. The sport suspension and an exclusive cover also came with the car but there are still several other options available, like the E-gear, which featured a 'thrust' mode to offer even more impressive acceleration by improving the gearchange through the different gears.
This "thrust" mode automatically revs the car to 5,000 rpm, drops the clutch engaging all four wheels in a controlled burnout, and ensures the car performs maximum acceleration. This "launch" only requires the driver to engage the "thrust" mode and step on the gas pedal, similar to the launch technology in pre-2008 Formula 1 race cars.

Nera

Lamborghini Gallardo Nera
The Gallardo Nera (Special Edition) was introduced at the Paris Motor Show. The Nera has a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph), and it accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds, as the engine and drivetrain are identical to the standard Gallardo. The car is meant to showcase the customization options available to the customer in the Ad Personam program. The Nera features special matte black body panels, and is only available in black -- actually a combination of Nero Serapis and Nero Noctis. Brake calipers are painted a special silver, and the taillights are smoked to match the darker paint scheme. The interior is stitched from high-contrast black and white leather in the Q-Citura (lozenge shaped) fashion. Only 185 units of the Gallardo Nera were produced and 60 were destined for the American market. Note that the glass engine cover remained an option, even on the Nera.

Superleggera

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.
A special version of the Gallardo, dubbed the Superleggera (super lightweight), was launched at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show supposedly in preparation for the next Ferrari 430 Scuderia.[citation needed] The Superleggera is lighter than the base Gallardo by around 70 kg (154 lb) - down to approximately 1360 kg (2998 lb) - thanks to the use of carbon fibre panels for the rear diffuser, undertray, the rearview-mirror housings, the interior door panels, the central tunnel, and the engine cover. Even the wheel nuts are made of titanium instead of steel to save even more unsprung weight at each corner of the car. According to the original Press Release issued by the factory the superleggera was available in four colors only : Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black, however at least one white Superleggera has been built.
The intake, exhaust and ECU have been upgraded to release an extra 10 hp (7.5 kW) for a total of 530 bhp (395.2 kW). The 6-speed e-gear transmission, usually a US$ 10,000 option, now comes as a standard. The full price for a Superleggera with everything on it runs for over $200,000. Lamborghini began offering the Gallardo Superleggera in June 2007. In March 2008, Lamborghini announced that they had ceased production of the Gallardo Superleggera.[5]The Superleggera paid tribute to the first Lamborghini production model, the famous 350GT, which was designed and built by the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera in Milan, a coachbuilding company that recently restarted its activities. The Lamborghini Gallardo doesn't have Superleggera style constructed body, it has only the name.

LP560-4

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 was revealed at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show. It is powered by a new 5.2 L V10 with FSI direct injection, generating 552 bhp (411.6 kW) and 398 lb·ft (540 N·m) of torque. The engine is heavily based on the new Audi RS6 V10. Unlike the precedent engine, this engine no longer has split crankpins, so it is not even firing, but Lamborghini says that due to the stiffer crankshaft it has less vibrations than the previous engine. Also, a revised transmission and four wheel drive system as well as a 20 kg (44 lb) weight loss are expected. The 4 at the end of the name refers to the Gallardo's permanent four-wheel-drive system. It also incorporates a new front bumper influenced by the Lamborghini Reventón. Pricing of the Gallardo LP560-4 will start at around US$222,000. In an episode of Top Gear, the LP560-4 managed a lap of 1:19.5, faster than the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, the Nissan GT-R and its counterpart the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640.

Super Trofeo

On 25 October 2008 Lamborghini announced the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo – the world’s fastest one-make series.
The series will debut in May 2009 featuring the Lamborghini’s Super Trofeo, a lightweight version of the Gallardo LP 560-4 sports car. The Super Trofeo will come with a reworked chassis and a power output of 570 bhp (425 kW) from its V10, ‘Iniezione Diretta Stratificata’ engine. Lamborghini has the objective to make the Super Trofeo is the fastest one-make series in the world.
The race car will feature Lamborghini’s permanent four-wheel drive, making the Super Trofeo the only one-make, all-wheel drive motorsport series. Lamborghini will build cars for a 30-strong grid, available to individual professional and ‘gentleman’ drivers, as well as Lamborghini dealer teams. One factory car, reserved for celebrity ‘guest drivers’, will be included in the line-up at each round.
The first race weekend of the 2009 provisional calendar will run on 3 May at the Silverstone circuit in the UK, followed by Adria in Italy on 17 May, Nuremberg’s Norisring in Germany on 5 July, Spa in Belgium on 2 August, Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya in Spain on 20 September and culminating on 4 October in Paul Ricard, France. Swiss watch-maker Blancpain is the title sponsor and the series will run over European race weekends alongside other prestigious series such as the FIA GT Championship and DTM.
The Super Trofeo car is offered at 200,000 euros plus tax, via Lamborghini dealerships, with support and parts sales trackside. The prestigious Super Trofeo Village will provide a hospitality area in true Lamborghini style, for drivers, sponsors and guests.

Police cars

Italian State Police Gallardo

British police Gallardo
In December 2004, two Gallardos were donated to the Italian police in honour of the force's 152nd anniversary, one came from Automobili Lamborghini SpA while a second was donated by an independent organization.
The Gallardo Police Cars are used by the traffic police (Polizia Stradale) during emergencies and alarm situations on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway, also under the powers of the special safety operative which is already being employed along that tract of highway and above all, for the transport of body organs destined for transplantation.
On October 2008, a private ceremony was held at the Viminale Palace where Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. donated the newest Gallardo, the LP560-4, to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Antonio Manganelli. The new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia will replace its predecessor to fulfill roles with the Lazio Highway Police Department.
Yellow Gallardos have been "temporary" police cars for the Metropolitan Police in London, one in 2005 and one in 2006, for specific publicity events. The 2006 vehicle was seen at the start of the 2006 Gumball Rally. Both vehicles were lent by Lamborghini London and were fitted with yellow and blue battenburg markings, police logos and a small blue lightbar.

Lamborghini Estoque

Lamborghini Estoque

The Lamborghini Estoque is a concept car built by Lamborghini. Unlike current production Lamborghini cars, which are mid-engine two-seat sports cars, the Estoque is a four-door sedan.
The Estoque was introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The Estoque is the first front-engine vehicle by Lamborghini since the LM002 utility vehicle. Despite being classed as a concept car, the Estoque is being seriously considered for production. It is described as a "concept for a $230,000 four-door sedan". It currently houses a 5.2 litre V10 engine, although there has been speculation that this could be replaced by a V12, V8, or possibly even a hybrid or turbo-diesel engine (as suggested by Lamborghini's Brand Director, Manfred Fitzgerald). As with other Lamborghinis, the Estoque derives its name from Spanish-style bullfighting. An estoque is a type of sword traditionally used by matadors.

Lamborghini Reventon

Lamborghini Reventón

The Lamborghini Reventón is a mid-engined sports car that debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. It ranks as the most powerful and expensive Lamborghini road car to date, costing one million euros. The official press release stated that only 20 vehicles would be released to the public, with one additional car (marked as 0/20) produced for the Lamborghini Museum. Although early rumours indicated the total number would actually be 100, each Reventón is clearly stamped with its number in the sequence of 20 between the drivers and passengers seats.

Although the exterior is all new, almost all the mechanical elements (including the engine) are taken directly from the Murciélago LP640. According to the official press release, the exterior styling was inspired by "the fastest airplanes". To emphasize this, Lamborghini staged a race between a Reventón and a Panavia Tornado fighter plane

Performance

Initial reports suggest that the 6.5 L (400 cu in) V12 received a power boost of approximately 20 hp (15 kW), but the output is officially stated to be 640 hp (480 kW). According to the official release, the Reventón accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in the same time as the Murciélago LP640 (3.4 seconds), and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of over 340 km/h (210 mph). Using the internal speedometer, the recorded top speed

can reach up to 356 km/h (221 mph).

Interior

The instrument panel in the Reventón comprises three TFT liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with two different display modes. The instruments are housed in a structure milled from a solid aluminium block, protected b

y a carbon fiber casing. The G-Force-

Meter is completely new and it is one of the talking points of the Reventón. It displays the dynamic drive forces, longitudinal acceleration during acceleration and braking, as well as transversal acceleration around bends. These forces are represented by the movement of an indicator on a graduated 3D grid depending on the direction and intensity of the acceleration. Formula One teams also use a similar device to analyze dynamic forces. The seats of the Reventón are black leather and brown Alcantara.

By simply pressing a button, the driver can switch to the second, quasi-analog display, where there are the usual circular instruments; speedometer and tachometer. The G-Force-Meter still remains at the center of this display mode.

Exterior

The Reventón features an all new carbon fiber exterior. All Reventón's have the same exterior color, described as "midopaque grey without the usual shine".

Lamborghini has also picked up some of parent company Audi's design language. Its is the first Lamborghini to incorporate daylight running lights into the headlamps. Seven Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) at each headlamp flank the Bi-X

enon main beam and they stay lit whenever the car is in movement. Due to the high temperatures in the rear lower part of the car, special heatproof LEDs are used for the indicator and hazard lights, stoplights and rear lights with a triple arrow optical effect.

Nomenclature

The Reventón is named after a fighting bull in keeping with Lamborghini tradition. The bull, owned by the Don Rodríguez family, was best known for killing famed bullfighter Félix Guzmán in 1943. Reventón means "explosion" or "burst" in Spanish, when used as a noun. In the vernacular, it is also used to define a very large party or a night on the town. It's commonly said "vámonos de reventón", which means "let's go party tonight." In automotive terms, it means "blowout, flat tire" when used as a nounWhen it was used as the name of a bull, however, it was intended to be interpreted as an adjective, a quality or property of that bull in particular. In this last sense, Reventón means "he who seems to be about to burst".

Production status

The first car went to Lamborghini of Las Vegas in Nevada.

Car #3 was sold in an eBay auction and was delivered to a Californian buyer.

On 2008-11-20, Lamborghini announced the last Lamborghini Reventón was delivered to a British customer of the official Midlands dealer, Lamborghini Birmingham. However, CarsUK's later report disputed the official claim, and revealed that the car #20 was delivered to Houston Lamborghini in the United States.

One is in the hands of Karson Choi, descendent of Francis Choi (one of Hong Kong's Top 40 Wealthiest Man ranking currently 29 from Forbes magazine). He bought it from the original owner during the economic crisis at the price of 20 million HKD, roughly double the price offered by Lamborghini (about 10 million HKD). Two more Reventón were spotted in Australia where spy shots of the Reventón's were posted in local forums.

The powerhouse of Lamborghini

The powerhouse of Lamborghini

The Lamborghini V12 is a V12 engine designed by Lamborghini and was the first engine ever produced by the firm. It first entered production in 3464 cc (3.5 Litre) form in the Lamborghini 350 GT, the first car ever produced by the carmaker.
There are many versions of the story of its development - some say it is derived from a Honda Formula One design, others say that Giotto Bizzarrini borrowed heavily from his own F1 design. Both were 1.5 litre V12 racing engines and the Lamborghini unit has similarities to both.
In any case, when Ferruccio Lamborghini set out to provide Ferrari with competition, he contracted Bizzarrini to design the engine for his car and, according to some accounts, paid him a bonus for every horsepower over what Ferrari's V12 could produce. The finished product was such that, with minor modifications and improvements, the very same engine (in 6.5 litre form) powers the current V12-engined Lamborghini Murciélago LP640, and is estimated to finish its service for Lamborghini with the coming version of the Murcielago, the Murciélago SV [1].
The engine was designed from the start to be a "quad cam" - 2xDOHC (two cams per cylinder-bank) 60° V12 - as an intentional snub by Mr. Lamborghini of Ferrari's single-cam per-bank design. When the 3464 cc prototype was tested in 1963, it was able to produce 370 bhp (276 kW; 375 PS) at 9000 rpm - a figure of almost 107 bhp (80 kW; 108 PS) per litre, and unprecedented at the time. Bizzarrini famously insisted that the engine was mechanically capable of reaching an astonishing 400 bhp (298 kW; 406 PS) at 11000 rpm with an uprated fuel system, but the design was judged adequate, and when fitted with production carbs, all the auxiliary systems and detuned for road use, the engine still made an impressive 280 bhp (209 kW; 284 PS).
Over the years, the engine has nearly doubled in displacement, seen the modification of the heads to allow four valves per cylinder, the replacement of carbs with electronic fuel injection and the replacement of a wet sump lubrication system with a dry sump. However, the engine that powers the current Murciélago can trace its lineage directly to the F1-inspired design of Bizzarrini and his team more than forty years ago.
